More than 100 companies to take part in Bulgaria - Qatar business forum

More than 100 Bulgarian companies will participate in the Bulgarian-Qatari Business Forum in Doha from March 14 to 15 2012, the Foreign Ministry in Sofia said.

The forum, organized at the initiative of Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry, is planned to be a focused event for direct contacts between the Bulgarian and the Qatari business communities, as well as to focus public attention in Qatar on Bulgaria by presenting the potential of various sectors in Bulgaria.

This is the largest presentation to date in the Arab world of Bulgaria as an attractive and reliable investment destination. The forum will be attended by companies involved in light industry, agriculture and farming, the food and chemical industry, the financial sector, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, construction, ICT, energy, tourism, the furniture industry, education, and companies in the real estate field.

Bulgarian business will have the opportunity to establish personal contacts with representatives of more than 40 leading Qatari companies that have confirmed their interest in co-operation with Bulgarian firms.

It is expected that a memorandum of understanding will be signed by the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria and Qatar’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry to set up a Bulgarian-Qatari Business Council, the Foreign Ministry said.

The forum will be officially opened by Prime Minister Boiko Borissov, who will head the Bulgarian Government delegation, which will also include Foreign Minister Nikolai Mladenov, Economy and Energy Minister Traicho Traikov, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Liliana Pavlova, Transport Minister Ivailo Moskovski and Agriculture and Food Minister Miroslav Naidenov.
