Logistic operators in Bulgaria upbeat about 2011

The real estate market at present

Logistic operators in Bulgaria have proved to be significantly more optimistic about the market developments this year compared with 2010, a survey by real estate consultancy Colliers International among 700 industry companies showed.

About 76 per cent of respondents said that the market environment will be more favourable this year against 47 per cent who gave this answer in 2010. None of the companies forecasts a deterioration on the market, unlike 2010, when the rate was 29 per cent. Operators expecting that there would no major changes in the segment in 2011 accounted for 24 per cent of the total.

For a second year in a row, the segment's main driver are fast moving consumer goods companies, as well as firms producing pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

"Since the majority of logistics operators in Bulgaria do not specialise in one field and rather serve several market segments, the positive expectations are an encouraging signal for the development of the economy," Anton Slavchev, manager for logistics and industrial areas at Colliers International, said.
