Greek Invasion in Bansko Winter Resort

The real estate market at present

The Bansko fellows will soon start greeting each other in Greek rather than in Bulgarian language. Frightened by the severe crisis in their country, Greek citizens buy out real estates in the winter resort of Bansko.

The Greeks make use of the low prices of real estates in the towns of Bansko and Razlog and invest their savings there, Atanas Butilov, owner of real estate agency Kas Properties explained.

The Greek nationals buy the villas and apartments now owned by British nationals which invested their resources in the regions two or three years ago. Then - at the time of the peak of the real estate prices, the Britishers paid 1,000 euro per square meter of built-up area. Now, they resell their properties at half prices - 400-500 euro per square meter, Mr. Butilov unveiled.

Greek entrepreneurs also start to shift their businesses in Bulgaria. Bulgaria's advantages are that it is the only EU member state with a border with Greece.
