Economy

VAT could go down by 2% next year even though it is still not fixed exactly when. The aim is a step towards increasing internal consumption, said Vice-premier and Minister of Finances Simeon Dyankov for bTV channel. 2012 would be better than 2010, than 2009 and 2008, Dyankov prognosticates, adding that in the current year the state has collected EUR 750 million worth of taxes more than the previous year. Minister Dyankov also said that despite the bad news that keep hanging on, there exists a large and optimistic scenario. According to him the sectors that should be reformed most in the course of 2012 are university education and science, where no reforms have been conducted so far. Partial reforms should also be put through in the healthcare system, where a substantial change has been introduced in the pharmaceutical policy.
