The British carrier EasyJet registered an increase in business in 2009 in spite of the global economic downturn that led to reduced passenger numbers on most national carriers. EasyJet has established itself as the largest current UK carrier, a company media statement said on March 4 2010.
The company ferried 3390 523 passengers in November 2009, representing a 12.3 per cent increase on the same month the previous year.
EasyJet had a total of 46 752 084 passengers throughout 2009, a 5.2 per cent increase on an annual basis compared to 2008 figures.

According to the media statement, EasyJet currently operates 182 planes on 504 destinations, spanning 119 international airports in 29 countries, making it the largest UK carrier.
