Finance and Taxes

altBrussels decided to unblock the aid under Sapard for Bulgaria, it emerged during our prime minister Boyko Borisov’s visit in EU headquarters.
Jean-Luc Demarty, General Director of DG "Agriculture and Rural Development" of the EC, announced that he had authorized payments under Sapard following his meeting with Bulgarian agriculture minister Miroslav Naidenov in Brussels today. Naidenov assured that the aid would be appropriated in accordance with EC regulations, the ministry press center reported. “We will do everything in our power to keep bad practices out of the Program for development of rural areas,” the minister added. So far around 2404 projects have been subsidized through Sapard. The subsidy amount totals BGN 794 million. Another 321 projects requiring subsidies that exceed 156 million leva are on the waiting list. A list of over 300 projects that have not been processed must be paid for by the end of the year. All remaining projects have been inspected on location with the exception of those in the cities of Velingrad, Borovan and Beloslav. All resources have been mobilized with the aim to speed up processing of remaining projects and make up for delays involving Sapard. The ministry has introduced longer work hours. Tenders for 51 projects are being processed and will be held by the end of September.
