altDutch company HortiGreenPower said that it intended to invest 86 million euro in building greenhouses to grow ecological vegetables in the Varna region, Bulgarian-language daily Dnevnik said on January 22 2010.

A company sought the co-operation of Varna regional manager Dancho Simeonov to carry out ts plans.

HortiGreenPower would need a 60ha plot of land for the production and processing of ecological vegetables.
The produce would be marketed in Bulgaria, Central Europe, Russia and Ukraine.

The company said it had the ambition to compete with low-cost imports from Turkey.

HortiGreenPower had chosen Varna for its strategic location, Simeonov was quoted as saying by Dnevnik.

Simeonov said he had spoken to Emil Dichev, mayor of Veloslav, where a suitable plot of land was available.
"This company is ready to buy the plot and start offering its production on the Bulgarian market in 2011," Simeonov said.
