Dubrovnik with a prize for best tourist destination in Southeast Europe

Dubrovnik was declared the best tourist destination in South East Europe at a ceremony in Belgrade this week, posted the Hina news Agency quoted by BTA (Bulgarian Telegraph Agency).

The ranking was organized by the Belgrade-based International Centre for the Promotion of Tourism and Hospitality (SACEN) as part of its campaign "Let's Choose the Best in Tourism in Southeast Europe 2010".

For the first time this year, at beginning of February a carnival was organized at the Croation resot town, comprising of a musical festival, a boat race, exhibitions of works of art, culinary events and various other fun activities.

When it comes to countries, Turkey was voted the best tourist destination in Southeast Europe, while the Slovenian company "Sports Tourism Portoroz'' was declared a champion when it came to sports tourism.

In terms of cultural tourism, top ranked was the Tourist Board of the Montenegrin city of Herceg Nov.
