Digital Earth International Conference closed in Nessebar
The International Conference Digital Earth gathering representatives from 17 countries ended in the town of Nessebar on the Black Sea coast. Digital Earth is a concept launched by Nobel Prize holder and former US vice-president Al Gore refers to a virtual and 3D image of the Earth. The forum aimed at promoting international cooperation under the Digital Earth project and popularizing new technologies that could play a leading role in economic and social sustainable development, environmental protection, adequate disaster management, the preservation of natural resources and the improvement of living standards on our planet. Some 110 authors presented their concepts at the conference. Among the countries with special interest in Digital Earth are: China, the USA, Italy, Germany, the UK and Japan among others.
