Construction and manufacturing in Bulgaria show signs of recovery

The Bulgarian construction sector seems to be showing signs of recovery following the slump, marking a 2.6 per cent increase in November 2010 as opposed to the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Institute report on January 7 2011.

Real estate construction in November 2010 rose by 0.8 per cent from November 2009. On a monthly basis, real estate construction rose by 1.1 per cent, while infrastructure construction increased by two per cent from October 2010.

On an annual basis, overall real estate construction increased by 8.9 per cent, while infrastructure projects were up 13.2 per cent, the report said.

Manufacturing in Bulgaria also increased by 1.3 per cent in November 2010, from the previous month, Investor.bg reported.

Output in the mining industry rose by 6.2 per cent, while manufacturing rose by 2.2 per cent. Production and distribution of electricity and heat and gas marked a decrease of 10.2 per cent, the report said.

In November 2010, industrial production increased by 5.6 percent from November last year.

Annual output in manufacturing industry rose by 11.3 per cent, while production and distribution of electricity and heat and gas fell by 7.4 per cent. The mining industry also dropped by 0.7 per cent, the report said.
