Chinese company wants BG wine for USD 5 million

A Chinese company wants to import Bulgarian wines worth USD 5 million (BGN 9.79 billion), became clear during a bilateral business forum in Sofia. Chinese "Sinochem Plastics" and Bulgarian " Vinprom Peshtera " signed agreement of intent to export wine on large. The Chinese company operates in 36 provinces in the People's Republic and supplies over 5,000 retail outlets in the country. "Sinochem Plastics" also has its own network of 50 specialized wine stores.

Last year "Vinprom Peshtera " exported 170,000 bottles or 330,000 liters of Domaine Peshtera as part of its partnership with the Chinese partner, amounting to almost half of all BG wine exports our to the Asian country in 2012. Bulgarian wines are known in the Asian markets, but there is still room to increase their exports to China, foreign economic policy head at the Economic Ministry Diana Naidenova said.

According to official data, wine consumption in China is nearly 4 billion liters per year. Each year, the consumption of grape drinks increased by almost a fifth, and imported wines occupy 20 percent of the market. According to Naidenova, Bulgaria could also present itself different food and agricultural products as well as products of mechanical engineering and electronics.
