Capri, Geneva and New York top the list of most expensive hotel accommodation

Around the world

The Italian island of Capri, Geneva and New York are the places with the most expensive hotel accommodation, showed a survey quoted by Reuters. According to the global survey, hotel prices have been hiked for the first time in three years due to the revivаl of the world economy.

Hotel prices on the site for hotel services Hotels.com show signs of market recovery, although the average prices of hotel rooms remain at the low levels recorded six years ago, posted BTA (Bulgarian Telegraph Agency).

"We are seeing that travel bookings increase around the world," stated the Hotels.com Spokesman Victor Owens.
In the second quarter of 2010, prices rose by around 2%, compared to the same period last year, which is the first increase in the indicator since the end of 2007. The index which has been recorded for seven years and covers nearly 91,500 hotels in 15,750 destinations has grown by 1% in Europe and the Caribbean, by 3% in America and remained unchanged in Asia.

Prices on the Italian island of Capri rose by 7%. The island became the place with the most expensive hotel accommodation and replaced Monte Carlo. In Geneva (and Switzerland overall), the average price of hotel accommodation increased by 8% up to $254, while New York is the place with the most expensive hotels in the USA. Prices there rose by 14%, compared to the last year. The top 10 list includes Dubrovnik, Venice, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Bali, London and Moscow.
