CO2 storage technology reduces pollution

Ecology

"The technology for capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2) helps to protect the environment. That is why the National Civil Coalition Nature for People and Regions supports the bill on it.”"This was written in an open letter of the organisation addressed to the Council of Ministers, the parliamentary committees on energy and on regional policy, the ministers of health and of environment, and the mass media.

The technology reduces CO2 pollution from the operation of thermoelectric power plants by almost 90%. The method of carbon capture and storage is relatively easy and cost-effective because it implies an increase in the price of electricity from these power plants by about 30% rather than by 50%. Moreover, CO2 can be traded, the Nature for People and Regions Coalition noted. “This is the only real and viable technology which can address the problem of CO2 emitted in the atmosphere in our country. Therefore, the draft bill proposed by the Ministry of Environment and Waters is a positive step,” the National Civil Coalition concluded its statement, expressed in the open letter.
