Economy

Bulgaria succeeded to negotiate the inclusion of the Consultative Council for the Black Sea in Annex III of the Basic Regulation. This happened at the recent meeting of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Luxembourg, attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Tsvetan Dimitrov, announced the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

This practically means that the problems of fisheries in the Black Sea will be distinguished from those in the Mediterranean and the different EU regions will be placed on an equal footing, explained the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture. Henceforth, the specificities of each region will be considered when drafting the EU legislation regarding fisheries. At the meeting in Luxembourg, it was agreed to use a gradual approach for the introduction of the obligation to unload the entire catch. The starting date for the Black Sea will be in 2016 and the final – in 2019.
