Bulgaria to spend 4.2M leva on tourism fairs in 2012

Tourism

In 2012, Bulgaria plans to be represented at 42 tourist fairs, spending 4.2 million leva to show off its attractions, which equals the amount allocated for advertising in the past few years, capital.bg said.

The country will withdraw from participation in some international tourist expos but will join others to promote itself as a tourist destination.

Traditionally, Bulgaria has had a stand at the largest expos in Europe (Berlin, Kyiv and London), as well as at the MITT and Intourmarket events held in Moscow. The Ministry of Economy has decided that in 2012 the country will not take part in the fairs in Slovakia, Bratislava, Frankfurt and Munich because of lack of interest on the part of Bulgarian companies.

However, the plan is to have Bulgaria represented at the tourist expos in Skopje, Baku, Lucerne and Algarve.

In 2012, the Ministry of Economy will also participate in eight Bulgarian-hosted tourist fairs, with entry open to municipalities and regions.
