Deputy Minister of Economy, responsible for tourism, Branimir Botev together with the Minister of Tourism, Trade and Craft of France Sylvia Pinel discussed the possibility Bulgaria to use the French experience in terms of building long-term strategy for tourism development, especially in the construction and management of ski resorts and ski tourism.

Botev took part in the 35th edition of the international tourism fairs Top Resa in Paris.

Discussed was the idea of a Franco- Bulgarian school for training of personnel in the field of tourism. During the meeting, Sylvia Pinel accepted an invitation on behalf of the Minister Dragomir Stoynev to visit Bulgaria.

French minister of tourism, trade and crafts visited Bulgarian exhibition booth and talked to representatives of tourism companies. Sylvia Pinel received as a gift a traditional Bulgarian hand painted ceramics and silk scarf.

According to Deputy Minister Botev, there is much untapped potential in our bilateral economic and trade cooperation with a view to the potential of France and the investment opportunities that our country offers, which both parties will have to make every effort to identify specific projects.

The flow of tourists between France and Bulgaria has increased in 2013. Nearly 70,000 Frenchmen visited our country in the first half and almost the same number of Bulgarians traveled to France. Expected to increase further by the end of the year because of the growing interest of French tourists to winter ski resorts and mainly Bansko.

Total French investments in Bulgaria amounted to € 1.5 billion.
