Bulgaria's Vitosha Nature Park to Restore 6 Tourist Routes

Six tourist routes in Bulgaria's Vitosha Mountain will be restored and equipped with new signs with EU money under a project won by Vitosha Nature Park.
The project, which was presented Monday, also envisages the restoration of endangered plant and animal with funding obtained under the EnvironmentOperational Program.
Some of the activities under the project are aimed at improving the condition of four plant species, three animal species, and six natural habitat types on the territory of Vitosha Nature Park.
The scheme envisages support for the restoration of the species of Bay Willow, Alpine Whitebeam, Great Yellow Gentian, and Galanthus elwesii (giant snowdrop).
The project also envisages support for the population of brown bears, wild goats, and European bullhead.
The scheme also includes the preparation of a special cadastral map and specialized site development plan of the infrastructure in the Vitosha Nature Park.
The activities under the project are to be wrapped up by the spring of 2015 and the cost amounts to around BGN 1.9 M.
