Bulgarian IT solutions provider Vayant, which specialises in business-to-business airfare shopping, has become the new technology partner of Lufthansa, the company said. The partnership was announced at the ITB Berlin travel trade show.
“The deal with Lufthansa is a unique breakthrough of a Bulgarian software product into one of the most difficult information technology markets,” Vayant executive director Eric Dumas said in a statement.
Vayant’s Pricing Cache software will replace Lufthansa’s current solution, provided by Amadeus, the industry leader.
Vayant’s software offered customers more flexibility and precise results, all without paying additional fees for accessing the latest ticket price data, the company said.
Vayant will provide Lufthansa with a custom airfare cache solution for the needs of tour operators in German-speaking markets. Tour operators in Western Europe who want to sell packaged Lufthansa flights will now use the Pricing Cache software. Some of the biggest tour operators on the German and Swiss markets – including Hotelplan, TUI and LTur – were already using it, the company said.
Lufthansa is the second major airline to pick Vayant’s solution; Austrian Airlines, part of Lufthansa Group, has been using Vayant software since March 2012. The company’s customers also include Air Baltic, Air Europe and a number of tour operators.
Vayant’s leading investor is Bulgarian Investment Fund NEVEQ. Other shareholders are private investors and funds from the US and Switzerland, the company said.
