Bulgaria's Bansko is Europe's cheapest ski resort, travel website says
Bulgaria's Bansko has been named Europe's best value ski resort by TripAdvisor.
The evaluation is based on TripIndex Ski which calculates the combined cost of one night's hotel accommodation, one day's ski pass, one day's basic ski hire, a local meal and a bottle of beer.
Bansko tops the list with just 106 pounds sterling, followed by Italy's Mount Etna with 117.73 pounds sterling. Germany's Berchtesgaden took third position with 150.31 pounds sterling.
Bansko is nearly four times cheaper than Europe's most expensive ski resort – Switzerland's St. Moritz (405 pounds sterling), which is closely followed by Zermatt and Gstaad, both of which have total costs of almost 400 pounds.
According to Emma Shaw, spokesperson of TripIndex, "great value can be found in Bulgaria, Andorra and Germany and others, while the traditionally expensive French and Swiss resorts have mostly remained so."
