Bulgaria Moves to Promote Itself as Adventure Tourism Destination

Bulgaria will be presented as an adventure tourism destination by the Adventure Trade Travel Association, an international body, the Ministry of Economy, Energy, and Tourism announced.

Bulgaria's Deputy Economy Minister in charge of tourism Ivo Marinov met in Sofia Wednesday with the CEO of Adventure Trade Travel Association – Europe,Christopher Doyle.

The head of the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism (BAAT), Ljubomir Popiordanov also attended the meeting.

As part of the new partnership, the international organization is set to help with Bulgaria's more active advertising as a destination for adventure tourism, the Ministry said. The Adventure Travel Trade Association's network includes more than 30 000 professionals around the world, it added.

The talks also focused on Bulgaria's participation in the Adventure Travel World Summit, which is to take place in Luzern, Switzerland, October 8-11, 2012.

The world adventure travel expo will take place for a ninth year in a row, and is expected to bring together 600 participants from around the globe.
