British company Maersk to launch a regular container line in Bulgaria

Tourism

The top container carrier in the world, UK company Maersk, will launch a regular container line via the Burgas Port and the first vessel is expected to dock at the port on June 19. The management of Maersk Bulgaria Ltd signed a contract with the Burgas Port at the end of 2010.

The delayed start of shipments is due to the need to achieve compatibility and uniformity of processing standards, accounting and software. The port already complies with the set standards and the improvement of the road infrastructure, such as the completion of the Trakia motorway, will help to develop container traffic of cargo at both the regional and international levels, port representatives explained, quoted by BTA.

The company was founded in London in 1951. Maersk Line is part of the group with offices in 125 countries worldwide. Its fleet consists of 500 vessels and the company has more than 3.1 million containers of all sizes and types. The average age of the Maersk Line containers is less than five years, according to the corporate website.
