BULGARIA CAN ATTRACT MORE US INVESTMENT, AMBASSADOR SAYS

Finance and Taxes
The amount of US investment in Bulgaria would likely increase, US ambassador John Beyrle said.
Foreign investors discovered Bulgaria slowly after the country implemented democratic reforms but the pace is speeding up now, said Beyrle.
Society is concerned about the sale of Boyana Film Studios, Beyrle said. The studios are seen as one of the national trademarks and the selection of its buyer was followed carefully, said he. He added all promises the chosen buyer, Nu Image, made are achievable, Focus news agency reported.
Bulgaria is a free, democratic country that can take its own decisions. Thus, diplomats should not criticise national developments, said Beyrle. He added his own statements should be seen as recommendations, rather than as criticism.
The US ambassador also discussed the explosion that targeted investigative journalist Vassil Invanov last week. Journalists should not be afraid to do their job and to ensure their security officials should investigate the case until the attacker is found, said Beyrle.
