BIO ECO expo 2011 international exhibition

Interesting

There are over 60 Bulgarian and foreign companies presented at the second BIO ECO expo international exhibition in Sofia on September 14 – 17. The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the organizer of the specialized display for organic food, drinks, cosmetics etc. and the whole event is under the auspices of the Agricultural Minister Miroslav Naydenov.
The companies included present milk and milk products, different kinds of flour, mixtures for homemade bread and the bread itself, herbs, spices, drinks, organic clothes and natural cosmetics, honey, produced in special areas, eco technologies, such as protective gears for self-phones etc. Companies, coming from Africa to Siberia are gathered at BIO ECO expo 2011. Experts from the agricultural ministry present at a special stand the opportunities, provided for Bulgarian organic farmers under the EU Rural Development Programme. Mrs. Mariana Stoyanova works in a company from the town of Stara Zagora that is certified to produce organic cosmetics. “This kind of cosmetics is much purer than the conventional one, it is really closer to nature, the skin absorbs it more easily and it is not harmful,” Mariana says, showing some of the products exhibited and adds:
“This cosmetics is based on lavender and rose oil. We have our own plantations, situated in the Valley of Roses near the town of Kazanlak. The whole process, from the picking up to the final product, takes place in our company. We own rose distilleries near Kazanlak and the final products, after the rose oil and water stage, are prepared in the town of Stara Zagora. Our cosmetics is exported mainly for Asian countries and the USA. Foreign states are more interested in our production due simply to the fact that people there are more familiar with the qualities of organic products. However, they have more money too and can afford more expensive cosmetics.”
Yavor Zhelev is one of the visitors at BIO ECO expo, because he prefers ecologically clean products:
“The average Bulgarian shows more and more interest towards organic products – he says. – This is the second food exhibition of this kind. I was impressed by its first edition too. I think that people in this country will start paying attention to these products, although they are a bit expensive. On the other hand, more and more companies create organic products, so this is bilateral process. The bad image of goods for the masses also causes interest towards their organic equivalent.”
Daniela Kostova is a part of the team of a Bulgarian company that grows organic vegetables near the town of Pazardzhik in South Bulgaria.

“We have been producing organic vegetables since 2001 – she says. – We export mainly for the European market – Germany, the Czech Republic, England, the Netherlands etc. We have offered those on the Bulgarian market too for the past 5 years. In the beginning many people didn’t even know the exact meaning of the word “organic”. They often confused them with GMO. However, nowadays most people make the difference and see the advantages of this kind of food. Many of them have also started to look exactly for those products on the market.”
