BGN 11,6 M Investment for Sofia Playgrounds, Underpasses

altBGN 11,6 M will be invested to build children’s playgrounds and reconstruction of underpasses in the Bulgarian Capital Sofia, Deputy Mayor Irina Savina reported Monday.

Of this money BGN 8,7 M has been secured from the EU operational program ‘Regional Development’ and the rest will be supplied from the municipality budget.

The children’s recreational areas to be revamped are in the Sofia neighborhoods of Oborishte, Podouene, Sredets, Triaditsa, "Serdica", "Slatina" and "Vitosha".

Savina stated that "the project duration is 24 months. On Wednesday, 21 October at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works a contract will be signed between the Sofia municipality and the OP ‘Regional Development’. Contractors will be selected this Winter.” She concluded that real work will start on the projects in Spring 2010.
