Marchaevo is a village in Western Bulgaria. It is part of Vitosha Administrative area, Sofia Municipality, Sofia Region.
It is situated about 17 km south-west from city of Sofia on the left side of Sofia-Pernik road, between Vladaya and Rudartsi. The village spreads out beautifully on the southern slope of Vitosha Natural Park, on 800-1000 m above the sea level.
The population is approximately 3000 people.
Regular bus and railway transportation to Sofia city.
The village comprises an elementary school, a kindergarten and a community centre with rich library and folk dancing group.
Beautiful and picturesque village, part of which is situated in Vitosha Natural Park. The settlement is close to Marchaevo lake, which is very popular for the fishermen. There you can fish carp, perch, terrapin, etc.
Places of interest are the Orthodox Church 'St George' and the 'St Trinity' Monastery where the traditional annual fair takes place.
