Balyovtsi is a village in West Bulgaria. It is located in Ihtiman municipality, Sofia region.
It is 4 km northwest of the town of Vakarel, 21 km in the same direction from the town of Ihtiman and 22 km southeast from the town of Elin Pelin. The capital Sofia is 39 km northwest.
The village is located in mountain region and its altitude is about 819 m. The climate is temperate and it is characterized by warm summer and cool winter.
In proximity passes Trakiya highway. The neighboring village of Vakarel is railway stop on the line to Sofia. There you will also find working stores, kindergarten and primary school. Medical assistance you will get from the dentist and the GP.
The permanent population is about 20 people.
Tourism and landmarks
In the area Stariya dab there is newly constructed chapel "Rozhdestvo Bogorodichno".
Just 2 km from the village of Vakarel there is situated Vakarel monastery "St Petka". The monastery is considerably new. It was found in the XX century and now is working from time to time. It is once a nunnery. Its holiday is celebrated in the 14-th of October. It consists of church and residential part.
In proximity to the town of Ihtiman can be visited cultural and historical landmarks as the church Uspenie Bogorodichno, the History museum, the passage Trayanovi vrata, while the people that are enjoying the aristocratic sports can go to Golf Club Air Sofia where there are golf course, swimming pool, tennis court.
Ognyanovo dam offers great conditions for water and motor sports.
