Riben is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Dolna Mitropoliya municipality, Pleven region.
It is 14 km northeast of the town of Dolna Mitropoliya, 17 km south of the town of Gulyantsi and 22 km north of the town of Pleven. The neighboring villages of Podem and Bozhuritsa are 4 km west and 5 km southwest. The capital Sofia is 174 km in the southwest.
It is situated in plain area on the left shore of Vit river and its altitude is 49 m. The climate is temperate with hot summer and cold winter. In the summer there are often storms with high winds, pouring rains and hails.
The permanent population is about 735 people.
The village is well maintained for there are constructed water and electricity systems, the central streets are asphalted and there also is lighting. Bus transportation connects it to the other settlements.
In Riben are functioning town hall, primary school, community center, kindergarten, stores and restaurants. One GP takes care for the people in the village and the nearest hospital is in the town of Dolna Mitropoliya as well as high schools.
The name of the village is derived from that of a Roman village Ribna grada and for the river is stocked with fish.
In the center of the village there is renovated Orthodox church. One of a kind is the concrete cycling track in the village.
The proximity of Vit river to the village creates great conditions for a well spend time in the nature walking and picnics, fishing.
In Dolna Mitropoliya often are organized super motor races. There you can also visit the Museum of Aviation.
