The village of Iskar is part of Valchi Dol Municipality, Varna region and is located 6 km away from the town of Valchi Dol and 65 km away from the city of Varna and the sea-coast.
The climate is temperate continental and is characterized by a sunny summer and snowy winter. The population numbers to 150 people.
The village was established during the Ottoman Domination in Bulgaria. Back then the road from Dobrudja to Istanbul passed through the area and was frequently used by convoys carrying precious goods to the capital of the Empire. The merchants have been regularly robbed by bandits and the Turkish authorities have decided to put guards there to scare off the robbers. Gradually, a settlement was formed there which set the beginning of the nowadays Iskar village.
Iskar is a quiet and peaceful village, surrounded by picturesque nature. On its territory there is a community center with a library, a food-shop, an Orthodox church. Regular public transportation is available to the town of Valchi Dol and the nearby villages. Electricity and water-supply are provided. Near the village there is a lake, which offers many opportunities to relax.
Available in the nearby village of Mihalich /located 2 km away from Iskar/ there is a doctor's office and a secondary school. Some 15 km away from the village of Iskar is situated General Kiselovo dam-lake. Petrol station some 6 km away from the village.
Developed in the area are mainly farming, stock-breeding and grain-production.
